Cuba – January 2008
Martha got up very early because she had to go to vote. She was back very soon. Then, José, her son went to vote. I´ve asked Martha who were her candidates, but she made a joke and told me she has forgotten...!!! When I went to have my breakfast at “Paladar Enrique”, the streets were calm, with few people walking around. In the evening, I was supprised to look at the TV that one girl and one boy, around 10 years old, in their school uniform, red with white shirt kept the ballot-box and said “has voted “, when somebody voted.
I should have liked to go that day to the beach, a little further, to the east of Havana. I wanted to swim into the warm Atlantic Ocean. But it was raining, the wind was cold and the sea was heavy. I decided not snorkling in that unknown sea. I was very sorry, because tomorrow, monday, I´ll go to Labiofam Laboratory and the following day, on Tuesday the 22nd January 08, I´ll go back home. The Second Cuban Revolution is beginning.
Guillermo Tellier, a communist Chilean journalist writes in “El Siglo” (Chilean Communist Newspapar) the following ...” Cuba still has serious agriculture problems, transport problems, and lodgings problems. But we can appreciate they have resolved energy items,education and health. At present people study. Education is free, and they study all over Cuba has with the same Universidad Central de la Habana.studies quality methods.“
What Cuba needs at present are workmen to put in practice the new transport system in Havana. Drivers are called by TV offering them work. Something unusual in other countries. What Cuban people ask is to have easier migratory proceedures, and to be able to go out and come back into theircountry in an easy way. To be able to sell their cars and houses, to have a mobil phones... They also ask for agriculture changes, etc...
