Cuba - January08
CHAPTER II
Divisa House
Martha Roche - e-mail martharoche@yahoo.com
To fly to La Havana from Santiago de Chile I went by “Copa” Panamá Airlines via Panama City.. Where we changed aircraft to fly to our destination.. Travelling time 9 hours from my country Airport.

At José Martí Airport, a taxi driver, recommended by a Chilean friend received me and carry me to Martha Roche DIVISA HOUSE. I inmediatly realised that man had put hise prices up to the places I had to go by taxi during my stay in La Habana.
Mrs. Martha Roche was waiting for me at the gate.. Martha is a charming and kind Cuban woman. She lives in her house with her 34 years old son and rents with the Cuban Government authorization one of her house rooms with a private bath room. I´ve decided it was the best way to talk with Cuban people and to save some money (Euros) at the same time.
My room at Martha´s house has fan, air con, two sheets and 2 blanquets, even it is in a tropical country. January is winter for them. A small fridge, very important at the moment I´ll get my blue scorpion poison medicine from Labiofam laboratory.

The bathroom had real hot water, 2 towels, toilet paper, no soap. I used the toilet paper and soap I´ve taken with me from Chile. I was informed that these to ítems are difficult and expensive for Cuban people

A “Casa Divisa”, as you know is a housekeeper authorized to rent a room o more, by the Cuban Goverment. A “Paladar”, is somebody authorized by Cuban Government to sell meals at home. I used to have an abundant breakfast at “Paladar de Enrique” and I paid 3CUC for it, at 8:00AM. Cuban people don´t use to get up early …
I decided to go with Martha in her friends and neighbours car. A Nakovi 1948. I should pay 10CUC to the owner of the car, an engineer married to a lawyer woman , who also had a “Casa Divisa”, because it was more convinient for them. Cuban people earn very few money. So they try to get some with turists.
