Cuba - January08Friday, the 18th January, 2008
Early in the morning I went to Hotel Sevilla´s Cyber Café. I have to send an important e-mail to Dr. Niudis Cruz at LABIOFAM Laboratory.
Till then, I haven´t the the Dr. Niudis Cruz´s confirmation to be authoirized to go for the medicament, ESCOZUL, for my grand child, for my daughter and for myself.
I´ve e-mailed her previouly, that on Monday the 21th January I should go to Labiofam, but no answer. And the problem was, that the following day I should have to return into my country.
I went to that Cyber Café, a very expensive one, because it was trusty. You have to know that all communications inCuba are very deficient. It was absolutly necessary that my message got into its destination. I´ve paid 30CUC, the minute. Around $ chilean 300/minute.
The computer was new, in good conditions and I was able to send the message...
After looking at my map I went walking to Calle Obispo, I felt very happy strolling around Havanna by myself, admiring Hotel Telégrafo, Hotel Inglaterra, El Gran Teatro, El Capitolio,...
Calle Obispo has lots of book shops, various shops restaurants for tourists, and Cafés for resting, and also a mall Artisants Fair. But all the prices are for rich tourits, very expensive. Not for Cuban people or back packers.
I went on walking slowly, and I got. into the La Plaza de la Catedral.
Dominated by two unequal towers, this Cathedral was described by the famous novelist Alejo Carpentier as “music set in stone”. I stayed there for a long time listening the Cuban Jazz Bands playing on the stone paved Plaza.
When I went back to Martha´s Divisa House, Dr. María Conchita, a friend of my family was waiting for me.
